Sister city or twin towns relationships are a form of officially approved and long term partnerships between two towns or cities to promote cultural and commercial ties among the communities. In the international arena, sister city relations are the most concrete and conspicuous example of the relationship between two cities.

Sister city relationships give a broad opportunity to the cities to carry out many different kinds of activities or projects in any international program, including municipal, business, professional, educational and cultural exchanges. Sister city programs are unique in that they involve the three main sectors in a community: local government, businesses and civil society.They also create opportunities for citizens to experience and explore other cultures, and stimulates an environment for communities to learn and share experiences that further advance their cultural integration.

Muratpaşa Municipality has been giving a great importance to sister city relations for many years. The sister city meetings became an important part of our urban life as they add richness to the cultural life of our city.

Muratpaşa Municipality has signed sister city agreements and protocols for cooperation with 12 municipalities, 7 of which are international and 5 are domestic municipalities.
